Sometimes

Sometimes our dreams are different from what our parent’s wants and wish for us, sometimes life may not be as one hopes for, and sometimes life leads us to a different path than what we originally wanted. But it all depends on what and how we walk that path, it all depends on how we wish ourselves to be. Sometimes life may bring us down, yet it depends on how we pick ourselves up. Life may not be as one hope for, but if one is able to lead the way and pave his or her own path, maybe life may be a better place.

Sometimes we dream big and at the end we dream small, sometimes when we hope for something big, at the end we get something small. When we were young we wanted to grow older so we can do things we could never do at our age but once we are much older we wish we can go back in time and be that little kid again. It’s funny how life may work. It’s funny how things are destine to be.

Each day goes by and as each day goes by we make our own history, we start our own legends but who is there to see our success? Who is there to listen to our thoughts and our pain? Who is there to lead us a lending hand? At the end everything is up to ourselves to determine what we want and what we need. At the end it is ourselves who understands our own needs best. At the end it’s ourselves who is going to determine how our fate and destiny is going to be like. At the end we ourselves are all we have.

Sometimes we wish we can be someone else, sometimes we wish we are not who we are, but at the end, we’ll always be ourselves.

My Thanksgiving feast

my family had our thanksgiving feast for lunch so here are some of the stuff we made. We cooked for lunch while my parents neighboor had cook for dinner although i didn’t stay long enough for their dinner.

Here was our pre-thanksgiving brownies. we made brownies last night at my parents house. The whole family was there including my aunt, uncle and their kids so we had some pre-thanksgiving fun. The kids and myself were the unlucky ones who had to sleep in the living room but I must say, i had a great time fighting for the blanket with my little sister.

how many idiots does it take to make brownies? LOL

the turkey after it was cut to be served

The turkey stuffing after it was ready.. aka the vermicelli

Per Lyn’s request here is the “recipe” for the turkey stuffing that my mom had made.
boil the vermicelli until it is soft, don’t boil it too long, or it’s easier if you boil some hot water and then put the vermicelli in the hot water until it is soft poor out the water and then drain it. cut the vermicelli so it wont be so long than add alot of green onion, cilantro, the dried up brown mushroom that you need to add in water to become undried? (get it in slices, you can always omit the mushroom if u like), oyster sauce and the black soysauce (the one with a dragon fly on the label), mix them all together and once the tukey is almost ready take out the tukey and stuff the vermicelli in there. Let it cook for a while so that the vermicelli can get cook. when cooking your turkey, for a good and yummy turkey that is not so dry use the oven bags for your turkey it locks the moisture and oil in your turkey and it also help with the stuffing too.

I hope this help, if not let me know and i’ll explain it better….

mashed patatoes being boiled before it was mashed

the gravey for the mash patatoes.. I made that. it has pork and egg in it.. it was soooooo freaken good!!!!

and then this was lunch… YUMMMM

Fried Bananas and Basil Seed Drinks

More food post.. I was bored on Sunday so I called my cousin Mada over and we made couple of dishes another word I was on a cooking spree. As posted on the previous post we made Crab Rangoon, sushi, fried bananas and basil seed drinks. This is what happens when you become super bored at home. I was home alone for the weekend and had nothing to do, well besides studying for a test and some cleaning, but i was too lazy to do those yet I wasn’t lazy to cook, oka, I know I am weird like that. Well enjoy.

slice the bananas into thin pieces

mix the flour and some sugar in water. picture aboved needed more water. The flour should be creamy looking

once the four is added with water and mixed well dip the bananas into the flour and drop it in a pan of hot oil
turn when needed and then serve. i swear i took a picture of the finish fried bananas but i cant find it.

IT was YUMMY!!!!

condense milk and the syrup are very important

cook the basil seeds and let it drain once its done cooking and set to the side

also have boiling water ready too.

first thing to do after the basil seeds are done cooking and draining get a big bowl and put some condense milk in there and pour some hot water to the condense milk, stir until it is desovled.
once it is desolved pour the syrup into the bowl as well and also add some water. taste to your liking of sweetness and how much condense milk you’ll like.

when the mixed is to your liking add the basil seeds into the mix drink and stir some more and then serve

add Ice to your drink, the colder the drink the better

ENJOY…

IMG_2000.jpg picture by mozemoua

Wow I have not been blogging for almost a week now, that’s not good. I’ve just been a bit busy and had no time to really blog. But I should be up and running again soon.

As promised to few of my readers and other friends from other sites here is my video on “how to make sushi”. Sorry that it had taken me a bit longer than expected to make this video and sorry that it is not the best. I had to rush it so that I’ll have enough time and so it can download.

If you guys have questions or any confusion let me know and I’ll be glad to explain. Enjoy.

Stuff chicken wings YUMMMM

Tomorrow my office is having a competition luncheon and each department is going to compete against the rest of the other departments in my unit. Because in my department we only have 3 people we had teamed up with another smaller department for this competition. We had decided on what each individual was to make and decided that I make some stuff chicken wings while Barry makes some Thai Curry and Song brings rice and drinks. I am honestly not sure what the other department in my team will be making, all I know is that they will be bring two more dish and a desert. Let’s hope we win this competition since I’ve put so much work into making these stuff chicken wings.

while the chickens are cooking in the oven lets start with cooking the sugar for the sauce

IMG_1972.jpg picture by mozemoua
Once all the sugars are brown and desovled add water to it and let it desolve some more because when you add the water it’l turn into a solid (ahhhh so chimistry is used for cooking to)

IMG_1974-1.jpg picture by mozemoua
Crush some peanuts to add with the sauce. and yes i did mixed it with pepper because i was to lazy.

IMG_1975-1.jpg picture by mozemoua
add onion and cilantro and a bit of garlic to the sauce.

IMG_1976.jpg picture by mozemoua
don’t forget the sweet chicken sauce, fish sauce, and vinegar or lemon oh and water as well.

IMG_1979.jpg picture by mozemoua
mix the suace together and ready to serve with the wings

Georgia Hmong New Year Dance Performance on Saturday

Here are the dances that were performed by my little cousins on Saturday at the Hmong New Year. Enjoy. More to come once the dances performed on Sunday is downloaded.

The girls had practice hard since summer and I have notice that every single one of them had improved tremendously. I know for sure that with the pace they are going, within the next few years they will be even better than they are now and I am positive that these girls will continue to dance for the New Years for many more years to come.

Vandala and Brandy both have also improved tremendously as well although they are more experience in dancing in Hmong and on stage. I’ve notice that their hand movements has improved and with more practice they both will be even better.

Jackie dropped out this year but maybe she’ll be back again to dance next year. Cindy had also dropped out this year due to the distance. She lives over an hour away and wasn’t able to get a ride for practicing. Let’s hope that they both will continue to dance again with the rest of the group next year.

I didnt have the tripod on the camera for this dance. Sorry guys.

Here is collaboration with the two groups. My aunt had added two girls from the little girls group to dance with the two older girls for this dance.

Georgia Hmong New Year 2008-2009

The Georgia New Year was this past weekend, and once again, it was another long tiring yet fun weekend. It seems like this year the New Year has gotten bigger, more people attending and more venders, the only thing that has not yet changed is the amount of people who dresses up. I’m proud of myself for dressing up for at least 5 hours on Saturday but by Sunday I was back in my regular clothes.

There were a lot of different type of entertainment coming from different states such as North Carolina, South Carolina, even Florida and of course Georgia; I believe we even had a performance coming from Arkansas too.  My little cousins also dances this year although my sister had dropped out this year, she’ll be back to dance with my cousins again next year.  One of the best entertainment I saw besides m y little cousin’s dances was a imitation skit from a Hmong movie, were a fan posed himself as Tong, a favorite Hmong character from a movie, he did such a great job at it that it was very convincing that it was him.

The food was great. One of my favorite things about the Hmong New Year is the great foods that are sold at the booths.  There are choices such as purple sticky rice with Hmong sausage, Purple sticky rice with chicken leg/whole chicken (small chicken), purple sticky rice with pork, purple sticky rice with American sausage, papaya salad, navah, and many other great choices. I always look forward to the yummy food every year. It just never gets old. And the pepper severed at the New Year is all so good.

The dances and performance will be posted once I get them uploaded on youtube. I’ve been having a hard time uploading on youtube. But for now enjoy the photos.

Here is the Tong imitation. He did such a great job at it that it was even convincing and very entertaining. Tong is a very funny character in all the films he was casted in.

Baby Savier giving Tong money.

baby Savier being Shy.

Even baby Savier is all dressed up in HMONG.

My favorite little girl. She did such a great job on stage with her dance. And shes only 6. By the way, never argue with this little girl, she knows her facts. ahahaa

caught them right after their dance performance. Lulu and Ceilia are adorable.
