Here are some photos of day two of the Georgia Hmong New Year. As always day 2 hardly have as many people as the first day, but regardless, it’s the Hmong New Year and it only happens once a year.
I mainly stayed indoors at the entertainment area and didn’t bother to go out elsewhere. I didn’t dress up today, I was supposed to, in fact I had my stripe Hmong Clothes out and ready to be worn but then I woke up late and was too lazy to get dressed (I am white Hmong, not stripe Hmong, but my aunt bought me a stripe Hmong outfit therefore I have one).
I had only went to the soccor and volley field once and didn’t bother to photograph anything from there. I had only went to that area becuase I had tried to look for my friends from Florida, besides that Iwouldn’t had bother to head out to the fields.
Here are SOME of the photos I had taken from the Georgia Hmong New Year. Not much to see, same as last year, I think Hmong New Years here in GA are always the same! But regardless I was very tired and ummm in a way bored! But I still enjoyed it regardless! Enjoy the photos!
Few of the cousins and I, oh and my two sisters
This is the outfit I had made!!!
THe girls on stage… Most of them are my cousins
My sisters and I
I couldn’t get all the girls together, but this is my little cousins dance group
This one guy from Cali
The beginning of the dance, dude on the front row, far left (in blue) is my first cousin, my dad’s sister’s son
The ending of the dance… They were great!
The Vang Kids! THey were great on stage! I am actually related to a boy and a girl in this photo, they are my first cousins, my dad’s sister’s kids, the other kids are their cousins.
I heard this amazing song (cover) by Kos Lis (DROOOL) the other day and I just had to get my hands on this song. It’s such a beautiful song, very touching and very bittersweet. I must have listened to this song over 1000 times. Somehow I am always pulled by bittersweet songs.
So I found out that the original singer was Song V. Xiong, a classic (early 80’s) Hmong singer and the song was written by Xav Lee(?). Her version was beautiful and just as bittersweet. Between Song’s version and Kos’s cover, there is only two or three words that were changed, but it was honestly only changed to compensate the fact that they are different gender, the meaning and the song itself is still the same.
I do not know if this is only a cover or a single, but I can’t seem to find exactly what album this song is in. I know it’s not in his last 4 or 5 albums and it can’t possibly be in his first few albums, but regardless, he sang this song so beautifully! I am totally touched and in love!
Kos’s voice sounds great with this song, I wish he would sing these types of songs more often, and entirely get rid of his whole Indian theme music (although his voice is great with those type of songs, but I love him more with this type of music)! His last album disappointed me a whole lot since his 8th album was great, but regardless, I am still in love with this song and as always, Kos just seems to draw me in so much with his powerful and great voice!
Kos is still my favorite solo Hmong singer from Laos, he is handsome and has a super powerful and strong voice oh and young, what more can you ask for? I would love to have the chance to meet Kos once! I heard he was in the states last year (or was it the year before?); I had lost my chance to see him perform my all time favorite song from him! So angry! Someone need to support Kos to the states to perform for us fans!! For now I’ll continue to dream and drool of him!!
anyways this song makes me so kho kho siab!!!
Here are both versions of the song, Kos Lis’s version and Song V. Xiong’s version.
Kos Lis’s version….
Song V. Xiong’s version….

On Sunday Nicki and I went to the Atlanta Turkish Festival held at the Gwinnett Civic Center in Duluth GA, I must say, it was a very interesting event. I had a great time and there was much to see.
(I know I had been very behind with responding to everyone, I will get to it as soon as I find the time to do so, I had been verybusy these past few days getting things ready for the Moua New Year party and the up coming Hmong New Year. Things should be back on track soon, at least I hope!!)
As you all know last nigth was our Hmong Moua New Year Party and to my surprise we had a good turn out, the room was super packed and it went pretty well. Doors open at 2pm, but I didn’t show up until 3pm, I had to be the greeter for the night, so majority of the night I was standing at the door welcoming our guest. It was a great experience and also an Honor for my Uncle to ask me to be the greeter.
We had people from MN, MI, NC, SC and GA who came to our party, a lot of the big name MOUA elders showed up and I was honored to greet them.
For the first 3 hours I was wearing my Laos outfit and then after 6pm, I changed into my black dress. I worked the whole night and was finally free from “working” at about 9:30. whew! By then, I was too tired to do much, so I only took a few photos. I also had one dance, with an old High school friend.
I’ll shutup and you guys can enjoy the boring photos! Enjoy!!
All the girls except for 3 are Hmong Moua girls.
sorry guys, after running around doing crap load of works I was worn out by the time I was free from working therefore I look super tired and torn up! LOL ALL MOUA GIRLS (except for Emily, she’s my dad’s sitster’s daughter, hmong Vang), firl on the other end of me.
THe guys were being dumb.. all Moua guys except for Douchi
Me looking tired as heck from all the running around working and etc
Here is a song translation and lyrics of Vib Thoj’s “Kuv Thaij Yog Tus Hlub Koj” from his first album titled “Kuv Thiaj Yog Tus Hlub Koj”. For the last couple of days, I had mistaken him as Viv Thoj, but I sure was wrong, I read the names wrong, but regardless, I am totally in love with this song (and his voice), and still is in love with this song!! I love the lyrics and I just love the song itself
I believe Vib Thoj is a new singer from either Laos or Thailand; he sure does have a good voice. I am not sure how great the album is, since I haven’t yet been able to go passed song number one (which is this song). I had been stuck at this song for the longest time, it’s just that good!
Thanks to my friend Sara for being kind enough to write the Hmong lyrics for me, yes my Hmong writing is still that bad!

Hey people, Paj Huab Ham will be coming to GA on Saturday Oct. 31st for a concert with the Unicorn Band, please come out and support them!!! I am debating if I should go or not. we’ll see!
Concert will be located at
AP Henderson Foundation
497 E. High Tower Trail
Social Circle, GA 30025
from 7:00 Pm til 12 midnight
My friend’s dad is in this band and an old highschool acquaintance is also in this band… But it’s been so long since we’ve talked I don’t know if he still remembers me. ahaha.
So after a very long time of me waiting, wanting and getting extremely excited about the Cha Mee Xiong concert, I was left disappointed. Okay guys, don’t shoot me for this post, but yes, I was very disappointed in the concert. I guess I was expecting a bit more than what was offered and I was hoping for a bigger crowd, nonetheless, the size of the crowd wasn’t so bad.
I felt like this event was not very organized and there was too much talking between songs. Cha Mee herself did a wonderful job at performing. She must had sang at least 3 songs that I recognized from her first few albums that I have and liked, but the rest, I have no idea since after 1999, I felt out of Cha Mee’s fan list since I moved to GA and had no way of getting her new music at the time.
Oh by the way, I don’t know if Cha Mee herself did her own makeup or if she had a makeup artist, but whoever had applied her makeup should be fired and to never touch makeup again! She did a poor job on Cha Mee’s make up. When I can see the foundation line and when I can see the foundation on the face and when the foundation does not match the skin color, something is wrong, the makeup artist does not know what they are doing!!!! I don’t like her eye shadows either. Sorry I just needed to rant!!
I was not able to get and good shots of the event, sorry. But enjoy what I got.
Guess what time it is again? It’s almost time for the Hmong New Years!!! Can you believe it, a year had gone by so fast and the New Years are fast approaching us? 2009 seems like it had flown by so very fast!

If anyone wants to add on other New Years dates and locations that I had not yet covered, please do feel free to let me know and I’ll be more than happy to add it onto the list!!
Please come out and support the Hmong community whether you are Hmong or not, we all would welcome you! And if you have Hmong clothes, come out with your Hmong Clothes on and show the love! I will be there at the Georgia Hmong New Years and will be wearing my Hmong outfits as well, I might wear my Laos outfit on one of the days, but I know for sure I’ll be wearing my Hmong outfit that I had been making for the past 3 months.
I will also be attending the North Carolina New Year as well although I am not sure which days I’ll be going just yet.
So Nicki had invited me to join her to Amit Paul’s concert and boy I sure did had a good time. Amit Paul is Indian’s 3rd season of Indian Idol runner up, teen sensation who is also the singer to “Pyar Ki Daastan” from the movie “Luck by Chance”. I haven’t yet seen the movie, but I would love to, Nicki had said it was a great movie… Amit did sound wonderful live on stage and he seems very down to earth. The audience wanted him to sing some extra songs and as nice as he was, he did, he also invited two people to sing with him on stage and he also asked the kids to come dance on stage with him, how wonderful was that.
Nicki and I had VIP and were able to meet and greet with him and also took pictures with him as well. He was very kind to us, and we were the only minority there. Ahaha. But it sure was a experience of a life time!
Oh and did I mentioned he was very handsome as well? Well yes, he was very handsome!! and we had second row seats as well!
He also sang two songs from the movie “Om Shanti Om” and boy did he sounded HOT HOT HOT!!!
Amit and I after his concert during the meet and greet.
these girls were adorable! the girl in the red to the left, she can dance!!
