my paj ntaub update as of 09.29.09

I had officially finished all the stitching and trimming of my paj ntaub, in fact I had finished it a few days ago, but because I had been lazy I haven’t been able to put it up. Truth be told, if I wasn’t so lazy towards the end of the sewing process I would had been completed at least a month ago, but I got lazy towards the end and started putting it off. Well I finally told myself how fast New Year is approaching so I finally was able to get it done.

I know there are some white space in my paj ntaub, but that’s how the example was and at the time, I was too new to really really change things up, but it’s all good. I am planning on doing another one soon!!

I had been searching for someone to sew my paj ntaub into the shirt and shay, but then the main lady I was hoping to ask is in California and will not be back until after the New Years and everyone else seems to charge an arm and an leg just to sew these together. With that being said, I had decided that, why spend about 50ish bucks to hire someone to sew the shirts and the shay when I can just learn it myself and make it. I found out that my Pauj (my dad’s sister) knows how to make these shirts and she was willing to teach me, she had said she would do it for free for me, but because New Years is approaching so fast and she has her daughters outfits and her son’s outfit to do, and not with that, but so many New Year celebrations to attend before the actual New Years she wasn’t able to do it for me (b/c she’ll have to do mines and my two sisters as well).

So today, I had spent the majority of the afternoon at her house sewing the shirt together. Boy it wasn’t as hard as I think, but very tricky. So far I had shown the main part of the shirt and the two sleeves, now I need to find a time to go back to her house to learn how to cut the opening of the shirt and the neck part. Once that is done I’ll be able to put the embroidery on the shirt and then work on the shay, but as the look of things, it’s looking great!! I can’t wait for the finish product!!!

My Paj Ntuab update

Okay here is my latest update on my paj ntuab. I say so far so good. It’s only been a week and I am halfway done with my SHAY, no wait, I am short so I think I am slightly over halfway, well as soon as i finish stringing the gold along the inside and outside of the SHAY I should be close to halfway done. Since I’ve last taken this picture I had completed some more already, but just the gold lining. I’ll update some more soon.

If I continue the progress I should be able to complete the shay by early Aug. so I can start working on the other parts of the outfit which are much easier parts.  

I’ve taken the task to “UA PAJ NTAUB”

Yes I am serious too! This past Sunday I had decided that I wanted to take the task to ua paj ntaub and so far I’ve been doing a fairly good job. On Sunday after work, I called my phauj (my dad’s sister) up and told her I wanted to do a full outfit for myself and for her to give me some examples. She told me to go buy the thread to stitch the paj ntaub while she’ll provide the examples and the cross stitch materials.

So I went to her house and then we started digging through all her daughters Hmong clothes including hers as well. I found the perfect example I wanted to use and decided to switch the colors around.

I’ve helped my mom make paj ntaub before, but never finish a full outfit on my own, if I finish this one it’ll be my very first one that I’ll finish on my own without my mom finishing it up for me or helping me out. I am very excited and hope that I can finish this outfit by November so I can wear it for the New Years. Ahahaha

I guess I’ll keep you guys updated on my progress.. so far so good!!

Below is the SHAY (apron like) that I am using as my example and guide. I decided to change the colors around with purple since I love the color purple and i am using the white cross stitches instead. When I finish I”ll be hoping to use Purple for the shirt and to put under the sewing. I Have to use purple since I love purple. If I am able to complete this one, I am thinking about designing my own patterns.
 

Below are my own.. this is my progress thus far… remember I had only started the paj ntaub on sunday night and with my busy schedule I haven’t been able to put much time into this. I’ve completed more than this since I last took the pictures, I’ll update later.

 

Dior Itonic Mascara

 

I love the new Dior Itonic Mascara. I needed a new mascara for my old one, the Dior Blackout was running low and then I ended up breaking the cap on it so I was force to get a new one immediately. I instantly went to Sephora to purchase a new mascara, but I notice the Dior Itonic Mascara and decided to purchase it. The next morning I tried putting it on and wow, I love it.

 

All I need is my black eyeliner and the mascara and I am good for the day, or I can even go without the eyeliner and go straight for just the mascara. I’ve been truly lazy and I hadn’t been really wearing any eye shadows as of late. I used to wear more makeup than that which includes my eye shadows and also my blush, but then like I’ve mentioned as of late, I had been really lazy.

Flat Sandals, hot for spring?

I am so in love with these flat sandals. I bought myself a pair from Charlotte Russ and I am so in love with them. I bought a pair last year too, but over the winter I sort of ruined them, but I can’t wait to get more of these in time for spring and summer. They are nice and comfortable, fit nicely on your feet and do not hurt your feet at all. They go nicely with just about anything you wear whether it’s shorts, skirts, jeans, flares, skinny jeans, dress, sun dress etc, you name it, they go great with just about anything.

I recommend these awesome Flat sandals to everyone! Oh and you might be able to find cheaper pairs elsewhere. Ahahaha. I’ll have to do more shopping and get more pairs for the spring and summer! I need to start getting ready because I only have two more months!

I think I am in love with…

Have I already mentioned that I am in love with the Smashbox photo finish foundation primer? I am in love with a foundation primer!

 

If whenever you apply your make up and the makeup runs after applying the makeup, this would be the perfect make up primer. It’s a whole facial primer which feels extremely soft on the skin.

 

The primer is applied after the facial moisturizer. This gives the face a nice hold on the foundation and any makeup that is applied after the primer. This primer is very light on the skin and not just that but it makes the face very soft.

 

Believe me this primer works very well. My makeup always runs about 2 or 3 hours after applying my makeup, but once I started using this primer my makeup stays on until I erase it. Even after a full night of dancing and sweating the makeup still looks as if it had just been applied. Normally when I go dancing my makeup would not last any longer than an hour, but with this primer, the makeup stayed as beautiful as it was when I first apply.
